  2. Try to enjoy your holiday, because I can't, I'm just spending the time studying lonely at home I can't get out. I wish you and everybody enjoy this time .

  3. My wish to all true believers in the central message of your faiths. From the writings of the founder of the Bahai Faith, Baha'u'llah;

    2. O SON OF SPIRIT!
The best beloved of all things in My sight is Justice; turn not away therefrom if thou desirest Me, and neglect it not that I may confide in thee. By its aid thou shalt see with thine own eyes and not through the eyes of others, and shalt know of thine own knowledge and not through the knowledge of thy neighbor. Ponder this in thy heart; how it behooveth thee to be. Verily justice is My gift to thee and the sign of My loving-kindness. Set it then before thine eyes.

  4. It was only today that I heard Eid is next week from Attawie! On Saturday, right??

    :D

Happy Eid to you too, BT. How are you going to spend the holidays? Me, I'm stuck in my room on campus alone with nothing to do and no people to see! It's miserable, I know, but what to do! Did you finish your first semester or yet?

Happy Holidays to all, may peace prevail on our country and all over the world :)

  5. oh morbid smile, my heart springs out to you being alone tonight.

you aren't. your words reach me, and i send you an abundance of love,

anon, thank you for these words, this reminder..

By its aid thou shalt see with thine own eyes and not through the eyes of others, and shalt know of thine own knowledge and not through the knowledge of thy neighbor.

always remember, the power of individual thought, our thought, we hold these truths to be self evident.. that all of us are created equal..it is in us alone, between us and our maker, that we understand the truth. it is us that create the reality, our vision, and not what we are told.

it is thru us, this fabulous generation, the future holds hope.

bless you all and your vision.

  9. Happy Eid and New Year Treasure! May this year bring better tidings. You are making a difference, and that was abundantly clear in my students' papers. You have changed many, many of their minds about the war.

  11. Hi A&Eiraqi,

Thanks for the nice words. I am trying to enjoy the holidays but how can I do that by the time Iraqis are still dying and suffering in dozens? Where can I bring the feeling of peace from by the time I know my family is suffering there?

So, you are studying? Is it a master’s degree? I wish you all success, my friend.

Thank God you are out of the cage! Yeaaaaaaaaaah! I thought you disappeared. How have you been. You were not in touch for a long time!!! No emails, no calls, no nothing! I am sorry to hear that

My first semester is over. I got very good grades! I hope the next semester be the same although the courses I took are far more difficult than the ones I took in the fall.

I am in Washington DC now with Omar visiting some old friends in the city.

  13. Hi Summer,

Welcome into the Treasure of Baghdad. Thanks for your nice words. I am glad you found my blog through Nabil’s. He is such a great writer. I wish I could do something to make him come and study in the United States like what I am doing. Unfortunately, he writes in Arabic which we don’t have in the master’s program I am taking.

It is really an honor having you read my blog. I’ve been blogging from my beloved Baghdad since August 2005. You can go to the archives and read what I worte but I don’t promise what you are going to read is pleasant. It is heartbreaking.

I read your blog. It is really nice. I loved how you quoted Khalil Gibran. What a wonderful writer! Thanks again for your nice words.

Thanks guys a lot for your prayers for Iraq. I hope the day when I write about my country’s peace come and those who love peace enjoy the celebrations together with us.

  19. "Philadelphia's 2006 homicide total was 403 as of Wednesday, the first time the number has topped 400 in nearly a decade. There were 380 killings in all of 2005."

Well, Treasure. Philly may not equal Baghdad, but it can be a temporary home. BTW, in case you're interested there were 73 homicides in all of Japan a few years ago
